About Me
Hey, I’m Jaydon Kuntz, a 17-year-old high school senior from Sherman Oaks, California, and the founder of Jaydon Kuntz Media. My passion for sports media started as a way to connect with my school community and help athletes showcase their talents, especially those who don’t always get the spotlight. For me, every highlight reel is a story waiting to be told, and I’m here to make sure each one is as hype as possible.
Why Sports Media?
It all began when I started editing personal sports videos that my friends' parents had taken of them. I’d spend weekends piecing them together into one-minute Instagram videos, and before long, I was hooked. Inspired by other content creators covering high school sports, I knew I could do the same. The feedback was awesome, and soon I was getting commissioned to shoot and edit reels. What really drives me is highlighting the underdog athletes I identify with and capturing their best moments on the field.
What Sets Me Apart
Aside from the fact that I’m younger than most of the people doing this, I think what makes me stand out is the attention I give to the athletes themselves. I take the time to really capture their essence, and even though I’m still an amateur, I’m proud that the quality of my edits looks almost professional. Also, I don’t just shoot or edit – I do both, which is rare among my peers. I work the camera, I work the footage, and I tell the whole story.
My Style
My editing style is fast-paced, energetic, and synced up with hip hop, R&B, or sometimes pop music. I’m all about creating a high-energy, cinematic look with magic hour shots and sun flares. One of my trademarks is finding unique transitions and throwing in slick visual effects that give my reels a polished look. I also love using slow motion to add drama, especially in my highlight reels – it’s all about making the athletes look their best.
Who I Work With
I mainly create videos for athletes who want to expand their brand on social media, but I also love highlighting the diversity of the athletic programs at my school and around my community. My specialty is basketball and football, but I’ve done reels for soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, track and field, water polo, and cross country athletes too.
How I Work
I always talk to the athletes first to get a sense of their style and what they’re trying to achieve with their reel. Some have specific ideas, while others let me do my thing. I like to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera and tailor the edit to their strengths – especially for recruitment videos. If I’m working with a whole team, I make sure to give everyone coverage while still keeping the reel balanced and engaging.
